I will be bringing 1 of the new slasher jerk baits for people to see. I wont be selling any or giving any out yet. These are prototypes for the coming season. Im really geeked about throwing these things. Mike
I knew girls like you in HS… showing it but not giving any out! [smilie=biggrin.gif]
Yea yea yea , I only have 6 of them all painted up. Michelle gets three and I get three. I will be testing them really hard in May and June. Ill have an Idea what the bait is going to do and how much they are going to cost by then. Right now we like what we see. The lure seems to combine Suick,Burt and Little Claw actions. It all depends on how you turn the tail. They dive and rise with the tail pointed up. They walk the dog under water with the tail pointed down. And slash to one side with the tail pointing to the side. I am using Gapens Weed cutter tails and have also ordered some magambo Kalin grubs as well. Still lots of work to do before its ready for the public. Mike

LMAO!! [smilie=biggrin.gif]
Also I want to double coat them and adding that extra weight will have some effect on them. The unpainted ones are only dipped in sealer. There are so many variables to contend with when designing a good lure. I may have to build this thing from Cherry or Maple to get the weight right for a suspending one. The floater made from Cedar is pretty much finished if the top coats just add 2/10ths of an ounce. Anyway the first 6 get top coats today. Mike

To pass along lessons from other jerkbaits/jerkbait builders… don't go to heavier wood, add lead to the lighter wood. Inconsistency in density creates all kinds of problems with something like cherry or maple.
I think I am actually going to install the screw in weight system. I have been thinking why not make one bait do it all with an add on weight system. I hear you on Maple. I have been down that road with Weagles. All kinds of different weights due to wood density. Cherry is more consistent then Maple but this cedar I have is such nice wood
I am testing them next week through the 15th. Ill know more after throwing 6 of them. Mike
