So, everybody, it's already that time of year again, where we have to start making up our minds on what we want to see at the banquet next March. Is there anything that you feel that just HAS to be at this banquet? Is there something we've been missing every year? This is YOUR banquet. Do you want to see more/less guide trips? Maybe some different items such as camping or hunting supplies? Any special lures you've had your eye on? We want to cater to your wants/needs. Let's get the list going!
I like the lake packages too… I would like to see a couple more local guide trips, or maybe one on some UP waters, or Munuscong, if there are even guides up there. I can't always make it to st clair, but would love one on any of the inland lakes or upper chain.
Love the custom lure selection too, maybe a few more flies???
How about this. Instead of specific, intensive lake packages for UP lakes, we try package of 4-5 lakes. A trip package so to speak. Take 4-5 lakes in a close proximity, say Chicagon, Emily, Stanley, Smoky and Peavey for example. Have a write up done on each lake like past packages but include only one lure per lake with a list of other lures. Include the marked maps as usual. This way there might be a little more interest than just a package on Chicagon or Peavey alone. The guys from Boundary Waters would be a good resource for this.

I like the way this man thinks!

I figure maybe one package for the west end and one for the East? Maybe the 5 lakes mentioned above and then Tahq river, McKeever(those are the only ones I know) and 3 others for the east? I know Kingfisher is pretty well versed on a lot of the east lakes.

A "Lower Chain" lake package. Even just a map marked for seasonal hotspots, and lure suggestions. Lures aren't a must. I would bid pretty heavily.
I agree the lures aren't a must but they're still pretty nice. So we have a western UP package, an eastern UP package and a lower chain package so far. Let's add an upper chain and oh heck how 'bout a LSC shipping channel package to the mix just for variety. Jim, how does that sound to you?

To clarify, lures weren't a must in the lake packages for me. Definitely need custom lures on the silent auction table. Wabulls, heavily weighted suicks, big jointed trollers.
I don't know what seminar/talk is in the works but I would find it interesting for a guide to do a presentation on dissecting a lake, and have them go into detail about where they would fish given all the variables, like time of year, water temp, forage, structure, etc. and see what there approach would be and why. Maybe this has been done recently, I don't know because I have been out of the club for a couple years.
As far as lures go, custom stuff is great! As far as guide trips, I would bid on something on LSC or lower peninsula from one of the guides in the club.

I like this idea.

The problem is there aren't many guides for casting on LSC and only one guide on the inland lakes. The ones who do guide on LSC probably aren't going to donate a trip/seminar to the club either.

This wouldn't be the first time that I was wrong but I was thinking that we completely skip any real speaker for this year and instead give a short presentation of what happened in 2012 and why we need everyone to support MMA in 2013.
My thought is that we save the speakers and interesting topics for a meeting when everyone attending will actually be interested in the speaker.
I wonder if we could get someone to donate a "Fall Hawg Hunt" complete with suckers maybe to help some guys learn how to use them. Show the different options for rigging depending on size, different depths to set dependig on the lake, how/when/why to use bobbers/balloons, teach when to set the hook, etc.
