Very similar to posting a pic.
You need to host the pic on imageshack just like you would for posting a pic. The image needs to be no larger than 125×125 and can be re-sized on imageshack (see below) OR you can re-size the image yourself.
When you post it into the space in your profile that is for the offsite link to an avatar you don't need the Img tags like you do for a photo.
