I really don't want to send this reel into Abu for repair and I've heard Bass Pro has a reel repair center. Is this true? Can I just run it into any Bass Pro for it to be fixed? Is there any other stores in the Metro-Detroit/Ann Arbor area that will fix abu reels? The power handle continues to loosen and when the star drag is tightened all the way, the line still can be pulled out. These handles should not be so wobbly, right? Everytime I re-tighten the handle and drag, it's just a few cranks of the reel to have it loosen again. Any ideas? Thanks
Sounds like the nut is stripped for the handle and/or the axle is stripped. The drag is because the stainless washers are flattened or the reel was pulled apart and the washers weren't replaced correctly. If the reel is new (1-2 years old) I would call Abu get an RA number and send it to them because they'll repair it for nothing. If the reel is much older you can find someone local or use Bass Pro's mail in repair. I don't think you want to go into the store because they would just send it to the same place. You might try calling Lakeside and see if they know of a reel repair in the Detroit area – <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

You may have already done this, but make sure the slotted washer is installed between the handle and the star drag, I had it stick to the handle first time I took it off, and fall off. I had the same problem until I found the washer….its the washer by my crude pointing device (oil bottle). Hope this helps?
