Clearly, we have to raze Toledo and restore the muskie habitat.
I think I am the closest to Toledo so count me in. [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]

Hemi-What its taken me a long time to understand is that it is not the relationship with us and the DNR that is the problem it is between the DNR and the rest of the fishing interest groups that is the issue.
KK
I t is also our (MMA) RELATIONSHIP WITH THE REST OF THE MICHIGAN FISHING PERSONS.
We could do more seminars and should be reaching out to the new areas like Ludington to promote catch and release and why Big esox are important in every lake.
Perhaps we can have a public meeting with seminars up in Ludington and the area near Winya ,MMA speakers, Lures companies, Display mounts etc. Sign up new members, sell lures create some excitment on these new lakes while placing a base of catch and release fishermen on each of them.
My Idea would be to rent a hall like a V.F.W. or American Legion hall for a night. Place adds, have coffe and dougnuts ,speakers , lures and rods and reels on display , raffles etc. . I would pay for a booth .
The three rivers chapter of Muskies Inc. Sponsered the first Pittsburg Musky show and that was pretty big. What I propose is much smaller.
People see videos of top water strikes,Huge muskies being landed trust me , it hooks new guys into the sport. We could do this in April before the season opener. I would volunteer to help organize it.
The Bottom line is this, We need to reel in these new lakes or the spear chuckers will. Mike and Michelle
Or we could utilize events already in place in those communities that are likely to draw the people we're interested in educating…
Just missed an opportunity in Mason County…

It's probably too expensive for MMA to have personal booth such as at the Grand Rapids show March 19-22. Therefore, are there any potential share-space partners to work with for some of state shows?
Money isn't a problem… I've got a long standing offer from Adam Starr for free space at any of the Showspan shows (Ultimate Novi, Outdoorama, Ultimate GR, Lansing).
The problem is getting people to work the shows!

Admittedly, getting people on Thursday/Friday would be dayum near impossible, but have we contemplated getting people together for manning a booth Sat-Sun, like we do for Fish Fest? (I'm looking at the Novi show schedule, right now…) For next year, that is.

Most shows require that any booth is manned during show hours. A booth sitting by itself wouldn't be allowed but I'm not sure about only coming in on the weekend. I would have to ask, obviously they don't want someone coming in and setting up during show times.
We have worked all of the shows in Michigan at one time or another, we have lots of new blood that doesn't know about the ten days of pain that was the old Outdoorama… Bring this up at the meeting on Thursday and we can talk about it while folding flyers…

The Alpena show is interesting. I might consider splitting a booth with MMA as an experiment. Could sell a few lures. Maybe they would pay you to do a seminar on how to catch Muskies ?
The main thing I want to do though is get Ludington up to speed. I want to sell lures in the local stores up there and we need to teach some cpr over there. If we put the show on we can have seminars, video, mounts etc. All about Muskies not a side show that gets a few lookers. Mike
Meanwhile back to a 'good' muskie lake, there is one very important lake we should be concentrating on other than just within our back yard priorities. Note, the first GLS hatchery culture year may not yield a large number of fingerlings. I suggest that the first stocking go into a inland protected brood stock lake for VHS isolation and future egg source. Hopefully the lake would have a friendly educated lake association. A few more fish for next three years would establish a GLS brood source lake as we did with Lake Hudson and Thornapple Lake. Extra fish after the brood stock source priority can go to our friendly debate of future GLS fishery expansion. Fair enough?

There will be three lakes established for GLS broodstock. One in S. Mich, one in the upper LP and one in the UP.
Do they have it narrowed down to which lakes to choose from?
