Does anyone know if there's power at the campground? Just wondering if my two batteries on the boat will be enough to get us through the weekend.

I'm pretty sure most sites have power. You can double check w/ the field office:

There is a PR opportunity for MMA if you wish to take advantage of it. Outdoor writer Eric Sharp's home is on the lake. Eric knows the lake well, understands muskie fishing, and could be a potential article for MMA PR. You could also explain your talking points to Eric for the Muskie Management Plan and/or take him out on a boat for photos, etc. Have fun.

We met up with Ken tonight and later managed to fish several hours.. I had a nice fish swipe at a glide on the break/drop off. Nice welcome to the lake 🙂

Got back from the outing earlier today. We made it out friday night for an hour after we set up camp and it looks like we missed the best night to fish by a few hours. It was raining and dark and I'm sure we could have moved some fish. Unfortunately Saturday gave way to post frontal conditions with blue skies and blustery winds. We fished from 5:30am to dark with a few hour breaks for lunch and a beer run. At 9:30am Saturday we moved a decent fish on a black bulldawg that made a pass at the bait but never hit it and disappeared never to be seen again. After that we fished hard hitting all the weed beds, some of the deep lake structure with dawgs, threw everything we had and failed to see another fish or even catch a pike. By the end of the night we were beat. Ken invited us down to the camp fire but after cooking some dinner we we're pretty damn beat and wanted to be ready to go in the morning so we never made it down. Fished this morning for a few hours but after the sun came up and since there wasn't a cloud in the sky we decided to call it a trip. I'm glad we made it out though, it was a ton of fun and the lake is beautiful and it was good to spend the time learning it. I'm only an little over an hour away so I see myself heading back very soon. Can't wait.

I was out from about 6 am until 1 pm then had to rush home for a dinner party engagement. Sorry I didn't get a chance to chat with you boys but with limited time on the water I was focused on the task at hand. To no avail I might add. I caught a handful of pike and a real nice largemouth. Threw DCG's, tubes, Dawgs, Tripple D's, Suicks and Burts at the skis but no love whatsoever.

I had contact with 1 fish Friday night, and had one follow in hot this morning (Monday) on a dcg. Later caught a Pike on a DCG. Yesterday we went to the upper chain and had a nice fish come in fast on a bucktail to the boat and dip under neath. We will be back at it tonight before heading back tomorrow evening.

The only toothy action I saw had the wrong color pattern. I did find some nice weedbeds to try next time [smilie=2thumbsup.gif],and there were some other campers getting some real nice gills and perch.

Wasn't us!

This trip will be known as the small fish hitting large lures trip.

We had a small pike hit a DCG on Margrethe:

And we finally boated a muskie, small one at that on Murray last night on the way home from Margrethe. For a short time a feeding window opened on the lake and fish went nuts chasing forage around shallow and on the drop offs. Lots of surface activirty brought the top water out.

We missed 2 fish and netted one in a span of 15 min., then the lake went quiet again… The small fish we landed wouldnt give up, it missed the weagle at least half a dozen times and finally took it on the third cast.

Later we had a bass smaller than the weagle take the lure:

All in all a great trip with nice scenery..
