Bored…but going through the lunge log.Vermilion and mille lacs are coughing up around 75 50"+per/yr 😯 .Plus those are only INC.numbers !! Mille lacs may have bigger fish but I am familiar with vermilion. No fishing vacation this year, but next year I want to go VERMILION.Sure you could spend a week at LSC or go to LOTW…..but you save on the gas$$,etc not having to goingg all the way to canada.Would like to stay at mid lake(VDL lodge)or over on big bay side…spent to much time on the west end so want to do something different. So any one serious about a trip up north next summer please PM me as I want to get this reserved by late fall at the LATEST..
no musky Dan..you cannot go..LMAO
would prefer 2 in the boat total..
would like to see 2 or 3 cars going…
but I know it`s tough for folks to commit..families,etc..

Good luck fella's, dont forget there's places in Ontario on the Northeastern Shield that are alot shorter of a drive and ALOT less crowded.
Just something to think about.
Ill be doing Minnesota trip this year again (July)..but will skip V
for most part and concentrate efforts on Mille Lacs and other lakes.
The crawfish on V have destroyed much of the prime cabbage weeds
so now its become a night fishery to even a larger extent..(and wind blown rock reefs/shores which can be tricky to fish..)
In any case Mille Lacs (tho less scenic) has been more productive for daytime fishing owing to large cabbage weed beds.. (for our group at least)..and there are other big-fish lakes similar to Mile Lacs in the area..
But agree, V is beautiful..and has lots of big fish..so always worth a try..
(I raised a 52+ last year on a specific small weed patch ..biggest musky weve ever seen there …and friend later may have caught same fish in fall as it was exact same small weedbed..was 54 x28 as I recall..)
Chad Cain is local expert ..fishes a lot at night … mainly rock reefs including the small reefs mid lake East bay…(For some reason tho my GPS reading on my maps dont seem to agree with actual V features..ie
rock reefs …so may want to check that if using map)
Good luck..and hopefully VHS will stay East for a couple years..Wash your boats well if you go!
