The Huron River system would be awesome… Start way up the top of it and eventually flood the entire system with fish. They already go from Belleville south into river. What if they started way up by Chelsea or Pinckney??
I've wonder that as well Rick? Is it because we have LSC? It would be nice to have other options in SE Michigan

I've thought the same thing about the Huron River system. I think that would be awesome.
As far as Lsc, well, we all know that she's not always kind to our plans to fish her. There are times when I'd just like to get out for a few hours. Thankfully, Belleville will provide me that opportunity soon. But even for the guys who live further away from Lsc. It would make it better to spend more than a couple days over here if Lsc was being a hormonal B***h, having another option to go try out for the day.

AMAZING! Now that's cause for celebration- what an accomplishment!!I believe the story on Osterhout was locals wanted walleyes instead. I would think the westsiders would gladly trade it for Grand River, Mona, White, Muskegon… If those waters do get established- look out!!!

Oster got bumped in favor of walleyes. I guess there are people on the lake that pushed it with the DNR. Funny,.. Ive fished that lake probably 30-40 times in my musky career and Ive only seen non-muskie fishermen a small hand-full of times out there. Now I guess there is this DEMAND for walleye. From what like 3 people that live and fish on the lake?? [smilie=bs.gif]
Oster is/was a cool little lake that a guy could almost always get some action on. It's cozy and usually protected from the wind a bit. Its a muskie lake that helped service 3 different sizable populous: Grand Rapids, Holland, K-zoo. Those that fish it regularly I think would tell you they really like the lake. Giant muskies,..no, average muskies with multiple contacts(usually),..yes. I hated seeing it booted off the list, as I do any established "muskie lake", but this little puddle is still pretty special as my biggest muskie to date came from there. It will have fishable muskies for many years though and hopefully one day it can get back on the stocking list in some capacity.

Hey, I am just curious, what was the testing that MSU is doing on the fish that were given to them? I just noticed the 266 fish to MSU for fish health testing and I was wondering what that was.
The whole way through the rearing process fish have to be sent to the lab for VHS and other disease testing. They're also taking blood from the adults for testing when taking eggs/sperm in the spring.
