Very exciting to see the Grand finally get some action. Also, good to see Muskegon, Mona and White on the list.
Will, Teal Lake in Marquette county is the lake in Negaunee right off of 41 right? I have driven by this lake many times on the way to Michigamme. Is this the first time this lake has been stocked? Do you know if there is a population already in there or is this being chosen as a new lake for stocking?
This makes me smile every year, but seeing all the drowned river mouths from ottawa county up thru muskegon county is awesome. Also continuing Hamlin and the Muskegon River is going to make for some really cool fishing (especially if they can swim down a ways…
). With those extra ponds hopefully all of these will actually get filled this time. also nice to see some fresh blood in murray, and a new lake in the UP plus a boost to McKeever. What a wonderful time of year! Can't wait to go help in a couple weeks too

I honestly don't know anything about the location of that lake.

I always love seeing this list as well.Will- I notice both Long and Austin are on the NMUS list this year. Last year these lakes both received GLS fish, so are these just going to be stocked with whatever strain happens to be available for the year?
I was a little concerned about Austin and the outflow of fish which was a concern in the past with NMUS, I'm waiting to hear back. However, with those lakes on the "trade" list, it is more likely they'll be stoked consistently.
*** EDIT: Austin will be NMUS but will take GMLUS as a backup as it did last year.
AWESOME!!!!!!! Really exited about the Muskegon County Lakes……size, forage base, structural variety (appeals to guys that like to fish a variety of structural elements with different techniques), and proximity to populated areas is bound to draw interest and tourism dollars. The Grand River spots will also give some angling diversity. To me, this seems like a huge step forward. Can't wait to see Mike King open up the Michigan equivalent of Smokey's on Muskegon Lake.

! Will, just curious, was there anything negative with the Belleville stocking? I'm hoping it's just part of the stocking strategy to skip a year or two since it received a good amount last year.
Belleville will be on an even year rotation, so it will be on the list for 2014.

Good stuff… I hope there are enough fish to fill all the prescriptions.
That would be really nice!! To complete the list through Margrethe would take nearly 56,000 fish.
– 21,000 would get to and include Hamlin
– 34,000 would get to and include S. Manistique
– 43,000 would get to and include White
There will be just over 2500 NMUS stocked into the waters on the NMUS list.

Just curious, is there a reason the Muskegon county drowned river mouths are so low on the priority list?
A few reasons:
– waters low on the list that got skipped in 2012 are higher on the list in 2013
– new waters that received fish in 2012 are automatically higher priority to quickly establish a spawning population per stocking guidelines
