New year, but the old post haha. What are your goals for the 2013 season??
Here are mine so far:
– Get out before season closes (either ice fishing or if lakes thaw)
– Catch 40+ fish (had a decent year in 2012, but definitely have lots of room to get more fish in the net)
– Catch a fish on Thorn and Ovid
– Catch a fish at the damn IOC
– Place at the IMC
– And obviously catch a 50"
Couple more hopes for the season are:
– Get a digitial camcorder and make cool videos with multiple video angles.
– Save up some money and get some St. Croix Legend Tournament Rods
I always like this thread each year. I feel like I had a great year this year but I know there's a ton of room for improvement. Between a couple of long skunk streaks and a brutally hot summer with almost no musky fishing I know this year could be better. I'd like to get in as many hours next year as I was able to this year but that may be difficult to do.
Major Goals:
-boat 70 fish
-boat a Thorn 50+"
-fish at least 2-3 new lakes
-get some sweet footage on my new GoPro
-finally start fishing more with other members, I'm sort of loner when it comes to musky fishing, if I really want to get better and learn more I need to fish with some other guys more often
Not really sure how I feel about these threads. My first instict, is I hate them, because I look back at what my other goals were, and I sucked at fulfilling them. [smilie=biggrin.gif] But, I did get a couple done, I think. I was able to keep my avg catch rate above 40". Happy about that. I didn't get hardly any time on the water with the hot summer, and super busy at work. Plus, having 4 kids now really put a damper on the fishing. But, I wouldn't trade the family time for any muskies. I did also get Ethan his first muskie which was probably the biggest highlight of the year for me. So, for 2013, I guess some attainable goals for me would be:
– Get another 50
– Learn more of LSC
– Catch a 48+ from Thorn & Murray
– Get the wife her first. (She already told me that we are going to take 1 or 2 days and fish LSC together while my Mom watches the kids. So I think this goal is in the bag)
– Finally fish Long Lake with Ryan. 😯 [smilie=biggrin.gif]
– Help with the "Education" part more in the fishing world. Now that we have great regulations, I feel the Education should be the next major hurdle to overcome. The regs can become more strict as well, but it will just be small stepping stones over the coming years.

You sure you want to spend a couple days down there???? Might want to re-think that trip Jim…. [smilie=biggrin.gif]

We'll make that one happen finally, I promise!
One of these days, our schedules will align!

Oh, not to worry. I had that issue taken care of! [smilie=nutkick.gif]
Im going to say my goals are to land a fish before december 3rd next year, get back on the horse on the upper chain after a miserable showing last year, and learn a few new lakes.
I like Jims expansion of education idea, and Ill add doing whatever possible to help the hatchery get max production. they made some great strides with fertilization numbers, now its how to get the percentage of those eggs hatched, reared and the survival rate up about 10% in the ponds.
We are hoping to start early this season with several trips down to Indiana and some open water here in March again. Both Michelle and I want to return to the Upper peninsula for several trips and we will be casting on St. Clair this year. I would like to get back into the 50 inch fish again so here's to 2013. Mike
I’m in the same boat as Jim in that I hate and love this thread in the winter but the hate part comes from a completely different reason. I love it because it gives me a reason to think about fishing when I can’t fish. I hate it because it gives me a reason to think about fishing when I can’t fish.
Here are my goals:
-Catch or be present while Chris catches a very specific 50”+ fish in Skeg. This is honestly the only real goal I have right now. All the other goals are secondary to this one. If this is the only fish I catch all year I will be happy.
-I think my total goal will be 20 fish with at least 5 of them over 42”. If I can improve and convert on just 10% more of my opportunities I should be able to reach this mark.
-Same as Jason and catch one before the season closes.
-Fish Munuscong/St Mary’s system and Lake Michigamme in the UP and try to make it to the MI/Wisc boundary lakes.
-Fish the Ice Out Challunge and see MMA win it again.
-Get the girl friend and my uncle to catch one.
-Get my dad on the water.
-Force myself to spend at least 20 hours casting Elk.
Impossible Goal/Wish List:
-See/catch a fish on Elk casting.
Well at the start of this year I still had not boated a muskie, my only goal was to change that! I got a couple fish on my own and with some help from other members I got a couple more. (And the season aint over ill fish in any weather)
For 2013 I will be able to spend more money on trips now that I have a solid amount of gear. I want to hit the chain at least twice and multiple spots in the UP.
As far as numbers I just want to catch more than last year. My PB is 45" so a 46"+ would be cool.
I would like to fish with more members, I have taken some of my fishing buddys out but they just dont get it….. I keep hoping one of them will come down with the sickness!
I have yet to convert on the F8 and really want to see a fish eat at the boatside this year!

Now, wait a minute. You want Chris to catch it, or you do? [smilie=brows.gif]

Save up your pennies for the banquet, and I'll have a nice surprise for you on this one!

Well naturally I want to catch her, but it would be equally fulfilling if he got it, as long as I was there to net it since it is a fish we have both moved several times out there together and both got her to eat a few times as well. She has haunted us all year long and I just want to see her in the net, preferably at the end of my line.
