What are the reasons for clipping the fins at this age and why the brood stock lakes only? (just so I know in case anyone ever asks' me). TX -kid
Quick recognition of year classes is generally the reason for clipping fins. Ex: one year they'll clip right pectoral, next year they'll clip left pectoral, the next they'll clip right plevic, etc. It's only on the brood lakes because those are the ones that have fish sampled every year.

1,230 seems like a lot for Ovid… but It hasn't gotten any in the last 4-5 years, has it?I got a bit misty-eyed when I saw about a dozen of them dead underwater at the launch ramp.
It is a lot… don't get me stared on how messed up the fish allocation was this year. No lake should EVER get 4 fish per acre. There are some HUGE mistakes on that list. This is the LAST time this will ever happen!!!!!!
Due to this, and past years problems, the Esocid Committee has been charged with setting specific stocking criteria that must be in place by next August. MMA will have a significant role in the development of the new stocking criteria.

[smilie=applause.gif] Although I know it means more work for you Esocid Committee members, your efforts are for a great purpose.
