Are there any lakes in S.E. Michigan worth stocking? If so, why haven't there been? I know the Belleville project may not have worked out so well but there has to be others worthy of stocking. Thanks, Rick
I've talked with Gary Townes (the Lake Erie Basin Supervisor) for years about that area. There are a few potential lakes but they are in the middle of a long term bass study. The last thing they want to do is screw up years of work due to muskie stocking. With the GL muskie progam on the horizon it may bring Belleville back on the radar.

I would love to see Lake Nepessing, Lapeer County Stocked. It was with tigers in the past. It would provide an awesome environment.
Man… that brings back some memories, we had some fun days there catching tigers.

My Dad worked with a guy that lived on the lake, and I fished and duck hunted with this guy for years. I caught a 36 tiger on a tip up when I was 7 or 8 and shot quite a few divers off that little lake. Pretty cool little lake, lots of fish, and that little submerged island is pretty cool.
I'd be curious to know how many are still left in Belleville and not thru the dam into the Huron and to Erie? I've mentioned Mill lake, 150 acres surronded by state land, electric motors only (one DNR said you can put your big boat in if you keep the motor up) top depth 25', lots of weed and pads. Another is Four Mile lake, shallow with 2 16' holes, but it is also connected to the marl pits which go to 60'. Even with the bass study going on, can you mention which lakes to get a idea about what there thinking!
I will not be down for the muskie harvest Tuesday. I'll be vacuum packaging up a 6-pt buck I got Saturday evening on way home from church supper with Kingfisher's old boss. In city Montague I just turned on to Walsh Rd toward VFW hall at 25mph when Wham! I was broad sided in driver door by the buck on a 'dead run' pun intended. All I saw in rear mirror was a big deer scrambling away. The driver door will not open. I did not chase the deer as I did what bow hunters do, and let the deer go rest and tighten up. I went home, changed clothes, and came back hour later with light. The buck had crawled under a brush pile next to the Hart-Montague bike trail. A Montague cop and I drove up the bike trail, he loaded the deer for me, and gave me a road kill permit. The 4 tags in my wallet are unfilled. When I skinned and quartered the deer Sunday and could only find two small cuts on right front shoulder. Perfect 6-pt rack, no bruises, 100% meat saved. The lung cavity had blood, but heart, liver, head, and neck were not visibly damaged. I'll package up the meat and give to seniors not able to hunt. I used wife's car for Lansing fishery meeting today while she took truck for $2700 estimate. That may cut short my travelling for a while. Have fun with the remaining ponds.
