Where do you want to go in 2009 for an outing??
The Cedars/Intermediate Chain trip has been a hit for a few years and I'm sure that will happen again, maybe a week earlier on the LP opener.
Where else? Anchor Bay again? Ovid had a great turnout and produced a bunch of fish. Does a long weekend trip more like the Cedars trip interest you? Maybe an "up north" destination…
Now is the time to give your ideas! No, just because you give an idea doesn't mean you'll have to be responsible for the outing… then again it doesn't mean that someone isn't goint to ask!
Seriously, lets hear it!!
Ive fished all those lakes as have others on here. Heres how it usually goes
"This lake looks awesome" 12 hours later "F**& this lake !!!" Low pops with scattered structural elements on HUGE bodies of water. The beauty of Cedars is the ability to locate fish year to year with regularity and the cover of shorelines that allow it to be fishable no mater what the weather is. I had suggested moving it up to the opener so that people were not trying to fish two weekends in a row.

I'd love to try the Cedars outing next year as well. From the info I've gathered, it sounds like a good time. I would also love to hit LSC. I find it very intimidating, and if we could have an outing there, along with a
pre-fish meeting like Murray, I think that would help out a lot of guys. Ovid was fun, and I got to see a lot of new faces. [smilie=2c.gif]
This was the first year I missed Cedars since it began and I enjoyed it in past years. So, it would be fine with me to continue that outing. Also, another destination that has been talked about ,as a matter of fact, I tried to organize it before was Black Lake. The Anchor Bay outing was fun several years ago as well.

I kind of like Ed's thinking too. Maybe hit a Southern water early in the year. I'm sure everyones about jumping outta their skin once the water turns soft in MI. Cave Run would be Awesome!
I like the idea of going south but maybe not that far south… North Webster is much closer and the fishing options are greater. Spring rain could ruin a trip to the Cave but down in Indiana with multiple lake options you won't have to spend the weekend in your room (or at the bar).
Also remember we have the Ice Out Challunge at the end of March every year.
Maybe we should start with the known events first.
March – Banquet (first Saturday)
March – IOC (last Saturday)
April – Cedars?
May – Open
June – Open
July – Fish Fest
August – Open
September – Open
October – Open
November – Bruce Memorial (1st Saturday)
December – Lure Swap (1st Saturday)
So… I guess what we're looking for is something to fit these months:
May – Open
June – Open
August – Open
September – Open
October – Open
We don't need to have an outing/event every month.

If we already have the Ice-out Challunge, what about Illinois? Kinkaid, Shelbyville or Shabonna?Check out this clip from Shabonna DNR survey.

Same problem down there in March, spring rain could ruin a trip. By the start of April those fish are spawning and would make for very tough fishing. I'm not saying that it isn't a good idea and that it couldn't be a good trip. When planning an MMA group trip we need to err on the side of caution. I would feel terrible if we planned a 3-4 day trip for 10+ people and the reservoir gets flooded.

I would love to see a UP trip to somewhere that has a resort on the water. A week or long weekend to one of the UP/WI chains would be a cool place to spend a week in August.
I agree, just back from Crystal Falls/Iron River area last week. Smoky and Chicagon are very cool lakes.
Oh, and Mrs. Lucky told me they found a 70"er floatin on Chicagon, 2 weeks ago. 🙄 [smilie=bs.gif]
Cedars and Anchor Bay for the opener also get my vote. I know it would be tough to make happen, but I'd love to see us gang bang Munuscong/St. Marys with some good fishermen. [smilie=2c.gif]
Michelle and I are still up for the May trip to the Big Island Wilderness area. We cancelled it for 2008 due to conflicts with the Ovid outing. I could plan and arrange one for late May or early June of 2009. This area has Muskies that have never seen a real musky lure
. The problem or obstacle is no motors,no wheeled carts. Rustic camping but there are resorts very close to the entrance. I would set up a base camp on the Island itself where meals would be cooked and campfire discussions could take place. Row boats and or Canoes would have to be carried in. There are two lakes in the Area with Muskies as old as 20 years. Could be some giants . Because of the lack of pressure this could be a very good outing for some nice fish being caught. I have wanted to return there for several years. Mike and Michelle
