Completed the annual fishing log totals for the year (all species) and thought maybe a milestone had been reached for muskies. I've maintained this log since 1980 and it has literally thousands of pike (especially), bass and other species documented. But not many muskies. I started for them on purpose in 2003, having accidentally caught a grand total of 3 in my entire life before that.

A few that year led me to more efforts after that and little did I know at the time, I had stumbled on unusually high populations in our possibly overstocked SW inland lakes for a while, soon catching over 30 a year with much less time and effort than it now takes me to catch around 20 a year, with inland lake fisheries I think stabilizing, or I have just become even worse at dealing with this sickness.

Anyway, in completing this year's log I just topped 200 muskies boated in my life. Truthfully not very many for the time spent, I'm still not good at this and it's easily over 10 hours on the water per fish boated in recent years, maybe way more than that (so probably 2,000 hours of musky fishing at a bare minimum, maybe even 3,000 hours, I wouldn't want to know for sure). Some catch that total number in just a few years or less. But with a one fish day being good in my book, no-fish days being common and occasional multiple fish days that never equal the number of no-fish days, I still think all the effort makes each and every musky very thrilling and satisfying.

It absolutely wouldn't have happened without MMA, that much I can say for sure. Thanks all!
