Picked this up at the Chicago Expo and it's a fun read so I thought I'd give a mini-review. I learned a lot about the various locales of Georgian Bay and the history of big fish on the bay.
The book is inspired by "Time on the Water," but instead of setting a goal of the biggest fish in Vilas County, the author is seeking the modern-day record.
It's a really great idea for a book and it's executed pretty well. I think I paid $20 at the show and I consider it well worth the expense. He shares a lot of information on Georgian Bay casting and trolling areas and techniques as well as discussions of memorable fish that they produced. His writing is descriptive and humorous.
If I was to look for shortcomings, I would say it lacks an experienced editor, maps and color photos. Part of the editing issue is that he wrote this about the 2015 season and gave himself a ridiculously tight deadline to go to press after his 120th day of fishing. I found myself going to Navionics and Google maps to try to find the locales he was discussing. I'd love the color photos because he gets into quite a few discussions of lure color, particularly his Dadsons and Hosebaits.
Those issues aside, it's a worthwhile read for anyone considering fishing Georgian Bay or just fans of muskie fishing in general.
