Will asked me to take a shot at building a Shallow version of the Deep Threats body. I agreed that a shallow version of this lure should be developed so we set out on an adventure.
The body is a stock Deep threat Blank and the Lip is cut from 1/4 inch Polycarbonate right here. I looked at my Shallow 4 inch Rippin Shad for some answers to how to build it. It was even easier on the 12 inch body.
I made a pattern first this time and Im glad I did. No guesswork on the followups. I am ready to build these right now. There was some risk in making the patterns before the lure was tested but according to Will we nailed it. The exaggerated belly roll at 3.5 mph is insane and should impart great action even slower for those cold December waters all over the Musky range. I have had guys on the St Lawrence crying for a slow running Shallow big bait since 2007. I am going to add 8 and 10 inch models next year and might have to do a 15 as well.
Michelle and I send out a big Thank you to Will for this Video and his continuing to be part of our PRO STAFF . Mike and Michelle

So far its looking like 7 feet down with 50 feet of line out. I need to get a bunch of these built and do a spread test in Lake Michigan banging sand.
JP , I was thinking the same thing but this is a big bait and quite heavy. It does scream for several smaller versions for casting. 8 and 10 inch models are being considered right now. Michelle is screaming 10.
