This is the new slasher Jerk bait we are working on right now. W e are still looking for the best way to attach a tail to it. Looks like we may go with the screw option although I thought the tail hook was pretty cool.

Yes, you put a drop of glue on the end of the screw and screw on the grub. It takes very little glue to make it stick.
Personally, on that bait I don't think I would use the method I described. I would:
– drill a pilot hole for the screw
– completely finish the bait
– drill out the pilot hole again
– install the screw with a little epoxy and cut the head off (if long heavy screw eyes are cheaper for you, use those)
I have 4 of the Stubby slashers on the racks right now for the banquet. Ill post them after they are done. You cant see the test bait cause I burned it after I was done testing. It had lots of grinding marks and such. it was a sacrificial lamb ha ha ha . I think they run better then the original slashers. After all that was my purpose in building it. To make a better Slasher.
The original 7 inch slasher is a little two stretched out. What we did was take 1/2 inch out and make the nose more stubby. This makes it push more(wander more) . There are going to be Hogs caught on this bait. Michelle and I are building 24 of them for us and we will be running them all season. St. Clair, Hamlin, Murray, Hudson, Lower crooked and Osterhout will all see them this season. Maybe even the cash outing on Ovid. These first 4 for the club are sweet. Mike
