Was a little bored so I thought I would work on some lures. This is a prototype 'docker' that I have been working on. Was wondering if you guys could let me know what you think about it and when I make a few more I might be looking for some people to test them out if anyone is interested. I think it will go through the thick weeds really well and hopefully get some action when I start going out again.

I think those look very nice. The only suggestions I could make would be to bend that wire tag end back and tuck it in behind the short arm wire, sort of like the way a slop master is bent. That would be one less place for weeds or algae to hang on. Let me know when you start selling these, I would like one. Could you make these with a longer shank hook and loose the trailer hook??
Tom
yeah i changed it up a little bit since this picture. I put a different swivel on and attached the blade to the swivel with a bucher o'ring. I also stopped wrapping the wire around the shaft, but instead i just bent it up to the main shaft and then put shrink tubing over that. Its a little difficult to describe but ill put a picture on my website so you can see. I cant really change the design of the main hook because i buy the spinnerbait head already made, but i think im going to sell them with the trailer hook and rubber tubing not attached that way the fisherman can attach the trailer anyway he/she wants.
well i use a 8'6 heavy rod with a abu garcia 7000 so i dont have to work that hard at all. The equipment i use does all the work for me basically. The bucktails i make have the same size blades as the double cowgirls but mine are a little thicker (.040" on mine, .025" on DCG i believe) If you have ever thrown a DGC it is pretty much the same resistance in the water. It is very hard to throw any bucktails with double 10 colorados with normal reels. Can you do it with normal reels? Of course, but your forearms will probably hurt afterwards. The vibration and resistance these big bucktails put off is crazy and thats why they are catching so many fish. If you are going to throw bucktails with double 10 blades a lot i would suggest getting a big reel with a low retrieve ratio (4.1:1 i believe in the 7000s) and youll be amazed at how much easier throwing these things is. If youre going to throw them here and there i would just get a power handle on your reel and that will help a little. So basically with regular equipment you have to work pretty hard; with a low ratio reel you dont have to work hard. Either way, any double 10 bucktail is worth fishing because they flat out catch fish.
heres a pic of the newly designed "Docker". I put a stonger crane swivel on it and attached the blade with a 100lb O'ring. I also changed the way I bent the wire down by the blade. Instead of wrapping it around the shaft a couple times, I simply bent the wire end in a half circle up to the shaft. I then put a metal bead at the bend and tightened it down with shrink tubing. The skirt if reinforced with a tiny zip tie to make sure it doesnt come off the bait. Im trying to make a good amount of these over the fall and winter to get ready for the spring. I think it will do really well in the spring/early summer especially at campau and maybe osterhout if I can get down there.
Heres a pic of it:
