Picked up one of Kingfisher's 12 inch Deep Threat in Coco perch today look SWEET!!! When I got in home and out of the box one of the hooks poked a hole throw the paint job. It went into the wood. What would be a good way to fill the small hole up. I dont want water to get under the paint job.

Thanks LeMay OUT

LeMay,
Here is a challenge for you, try trolling the 12" Deep Threat for 1 hour with a heavy action rod. If you can do that without your arms falling off, then you are the MAN!!! Those baits have great action but a good rod holder is a must. I have the Lake Trout pattern and that thing is unbelievable, almost too pretty to use.

"……..almost too pretty to use".
With just a little imagination and minus the hooks, the muskie fishers are going to be competing with the art fairs in the future for those lures.

Superglue will work great if it's just a puncture. Put just a dab of superglue in the hole and give it a couple minutes to soak in then put a little water on it with a finger. Try not to glue your finger to the bait… Laugh Laugh

OK thanks Will.

Hamilton Reef yes it is a very pretty lure and most of the time it will be on the wall till fall and them I'll find some deep water and try to put a big one in the net with it.

Muskie Tom that is quite a challenge I dont know. My luck my arms would be about to fall off and I'd have a Big Muskie hit it and have to pass the rod off to my fishing budy. Embarassed

Hi Jim, did you get it from Pastikas? I had hook protectors on all the hooks when I sent them out to them. should not have happened. Best fix is epoxy two part 4 to 6 minute. Use a pointed tooth pick to poke it in the hole. The one Im doing for the banquet is a Redhorse . Its looking real nice. Its gets top coated today. Mike

Mike I picked it up at Likeside down in Detroit. Are you going to post a photo of it here on the web Mike so we can see what it looks like?

Thanks LeMay OUT

Used one in Canada last trip up there. Used a 6 1/2 foot Ugly Stick w/o a rod holder….never again. My forearm hurt within 5 minutes. I just didn't trust the rod holders with that much pull on the end of the rod. Next time up there I will have a Downeaster with me.

Here is the 12 inch model I am donating to the cause this year. It has an extra coat of Envirotec tyo make it much tougher. Yellow belly Redhorse. The picture is ok but this bait looks better than the picture. Thanks for all nice words about our lures. Mike and Michelle "><url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

Our President has scored a couple nice fish on a Deepthreat and might answer questions on where he thinks this lure would be a good choice. The 12 inch model can exceed 25 feet in depth with Super lines or wire. To fish this deep you need a lake or river where Muskies locate at or just below this depth. The nice thing is you dont have to run the lure that deep to catch fish with it. We have scored 6 feet back in the Wyandotte area of the Detroit river only 4 feet down(down rod) . But this lure was designed to go down after Late fall Muskies that have moved to deeper water suspending with Deep water forage. October thru December fishing for Muskies that have staged for arriving Ciscos ,Whitefish and Lake trout. They will work well in a 4 rod spread. Picture 2 anglers running 4 rods. Deepthreats under the boat in the prop wash rods position with long lines running shallower baits running off the sides or Planer Boards. They are usefull tools when you are in search mode scanning open water for baitfish and suspended hooks. Its important to know not to run a deepthreat at the same depth or deeper than suspended Muskies as you can Line a fish and spook it . I recomend trying to keep your Lures a little above any suspected Muskies by at least 3 feet. Finlander learned the hard way that a good Downeaster is a must for trolling these lures. I recomend the use of good Glass rods rated at 6 oz. or better. If using super lines make sure your rods have quality guides with good inserts. If using Wire roller guides are a must. I troll mine with Tiger rods rated at 6 ounces 7 foot . Reels are Okuma Convectors with 60 lb Trilene Big Game and 130 lb Florocarbon leaders built by Andy Morraller( builds leaders for Marc Thorpe). I did the Super line thing and almost lost all the meat on one of my hands when the lure snagged up in the Detroit river. I made the mistake of wrapping the line around my hand to try pulling loose. The current pulled the boat down stream and the line started to cut into my hand. I was extremely lucky to get it un wound quickly and wound it around an oak board. The super line cut a 3/4Inch deep cut all the way around the board before the line broke. These lures hold hard and require anyone who uses them to respect the dangers involved . They require you run tight drag. This leads to stress on all tackle LINE,LEADERS, ROD HOLDERS,AND RODS. This is why I run 60 lb mono as there is some give in the system . The downside to Heavy mono is lack of maximum depth. I hope some of this helps. I am sure there will be more to come on fshing this lure. Mike and Michelle

Awesome tool for precision fishing specific depths. Imagine being able to scrub a break at 18' with only 40' of line out. Seeing that rockpile with the big hook next to it at 25' and being able bang a lure off it to trigger a strike.

Big baits require big tackle for sure. Though you could run these on a normal set up you'll be stressing your equipment, as Mike mentioned.

That's a great looking Lure Mike. I think it will look good running in the water next to MY boat. Just like this Slasher will.
