I just made my first double tens and I pretty much copied everything from a cowgirl. When I tested the first lure it was hard to get the blades moving and when I did I had to run it fast to keep them going, nothing like the flutter and the thump of a cowgirl. The blades that I got are thicker and different shaped than the cowgirl but I used the same weights.

Any advice how to tweak these blades/design/weight or am I down to ordering all different blades to get good action on my lures?
The actual size of the egg weight at the back doesn't matter too much. I have made them with all different sizes and even add drop-shot weights through a split rings when more weight is desired. I would mess around with the design first before ordering different blades. The cowgirls are specifically set up for a specific blade size, so your bait won't run as well if you have the same body but different blades. I would mess around with the distance between the blades and the skirt and little thing like that. It is amazing how just one extra beed here or there can change the look of a bucktail. If you do end up ordering new blades check out muskyshop as they have a great selection.
