I was reading this from an other Muskie web page and thought you guys my have some ideas too like this. Just want to get you guys thinking.
A dream lure of the future would appear weedless, just a body. However, to trigger double hooks to pop out a solid hook set must be done (a seat belt mechanism).
Another feature (not lure related thought) is a spy camera size of a swivel attached on a leader in front of the lure. The image is transmitted wirelessly and is displayed on a tiny monitor built into sunglasses so that you can always tell the action your lure has, whether any weeds fouled or whether you have a follower.

The dream lure would be a self propelled plastic sucker. It would operate like a mini submarine swimming right into the open mouth of the Biggest Musky it saw. The eyes would be mini cameras and the fisherman would operate it from the boat with a joystick. Better yet you could have one set up to be virtual. You would wear a suit that looks like a fish and you would be the bait so to speak. You could swim up to a giant Musky and dance in her face until she decided you were a menace to the eco system and eat you. Whoa getting a little far fetched here. Im still into wood and plastic.
