Just got back from the Chicago Show. I had a great time. I spent too much money but easily could have dropped more just on lures. I was very impressed with Musky Innovations new products. I could have spent about 200 just at thier stand. They had some cool looking new products. I can't wait to try them out, Oh yeah and catch some fish with them. Joe Bucher also had a couple new lures. I got a fluttertail which has great action. I saw him throwing that in the pool. Last year someone was selling the same Fluttertail lure, but I don't know what company it was, but Bucher must have bought them out. I got a Fluttertail last year and I moved some nice fish but the first one that hit it ripped of the tail ruining it. So hopefully the one I got this year will last longer. Another lure that looks good is the Swimmin Joe. I was dissapointed that they didn't have any of the new Reef Hawgs. There is almost to many lures at that show, would have been nice if I could have had a couple more days there lol.

For those of you who went what did you like, what you get?

2006 is the year of the gadgets and gimmicks!

I saw more gadget/gimmick baits and gadgets attached to baits than I've ever seen!

Yea there were all kinds of gadgets and gimicks at the show. I love it though, keeps it interesting. The bait that impressed me most was musky inovations chatter tail ? I think its called. Looks like something the muskies have never seen before. All the speakers were awsome, I thought spence petros was the best. I think next year they should move this to a bigger venue, It was fairly packed. But all in all good time.

I was there on Saturday with Tom & Mike Stinson most of the day and ended up back in there Sunday morning for a little while… Tom was whining about not getting everything he wanted, so we HAD to go back.

The show was very busy Saturday. I heard they had a record 2500+ people in there. Previous record was under 2000. However, after about 3:00 it started to thin out a bit and the crowd was manageable.

Like Will, I thought there was a lot more gimmicky crap and cheap stuff there than ever. I really don't like seeing the baits going in that direction.

But, there were also a few new bait makers or bait makers who had really nice new stuff like Todd Cleveland's deep and squirrelly Phantom's, Todd Leopardi's Shayla Shad Crankbaits, and True Glide Small Batch Baits. Spent a wad between these three booths alone… I had a laundry list of goodies I wanted and most of the stuff i bought wasn't on my list. I got a new pair of Ocean Waves Sunglasses with Backwater Green lenses that I am pretty pumped about. Also really great looking at all the different mounts at Lax, Fittante, and others scattered throughout. I am still just blown away by Joe Fittante's artistry.

The swap was fun too. More people than ever, but I don't think there were as many baits. I made a few trades, but sold most of my stuff. I think I ended up with 8 new baits from the swap.

I really enjoy that weekend. Its great to see everyone in one place. I think we had almost 20 people there from MMA on Saturday. It’s a great time to see old friends from outside of Michigan and also make some new ones.
