The skeg being so large on the head of this thing, reveals the only place to put the transducer is behind the skeg, and ahead of the prop. Anyone ever deal with this??? Also, this model has a sliding, locking collar. This prevents using ty-wraps to hold the transduce cable tight to the shaft of the 55PD. Any ideas??? Thanks. Bruce
Finlander,
I mounted a Lowrance puck/trolling motor transducer on a similar motor on my last rig. It was actually an AP, but depending on what vintage your PD is, I believe it should be nearly identical and work in that position, as this was how mine was mounted. My motor was a '98 model. I ran the cable under the band clamp and on up to the top, routing the cable outside of the sliding mount assembly, with tie wraps at the top. You simply need enough cable slack to permit the motor shaft slide action through the sliding mount assembly. For some extra protection for the cable, I ran a length of the black split electrical loom material on the outside with a few tie wraps around the loom to secure it with the cable. I ran this motor for the entire time I owned the boat – 7 years without any problems of any kind.
Best of luck to you,
Rob
