DU I have a home made one at home. I just use wood. Some nice apple of hickory works great. For fish old corn cobbs will give the fish a nice golden color.

Dave-

The old standby <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]
type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results2.jsp&Ne=2510&noImage=0&Ntt=smoker&Ntk=Products&QueryText=smoker&Ntx=mode+matchall&N=4808&trueNum=32"><link_text text="[Permission to view this media is denied] … trueNum=32">[Permission to view this media is denied]
type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results2.jsp&Ne=2510&noImage=0&Ntt=smoker&Ntk=Products&QueryText=smoker&Ntx=mode+matchall&N=4808&trueNum=32

these work good and are very easy to use. Then down the road if you are doing a lot of stuff you can always upgrade. I used one of these for 12 to 15 yrs and loved it.

Corn cobs and tag alder make a good "old school" flavor as well as some other woods. The key is temperature, In an electric smoker apple and maple work good but if you use a charcoal one those will taste bitter and burnt IMO. I personally use my grill/smoker combo and burn red oak over charcoal for a hot smoke which will do most things in a few hours. The electric is great if you are doing it on the weekend and can watch it as the smoke pot will not last overnight.
I hope this helps you to make me lots of jerky for the Intermediate outing Laugh

Thanx KK !! Is there anything you don`t know ❓ Oh…that`s right….getting me in trouble for fishing for pre spawn northern muskies 🙄 Laugh Laugh Laugh Just kiddin……you seem to be alright for one of the Jetsons 8) Wonder if Cedars is full up….still kickin roun where to stay for May.My boat wouldn`t make it through the tail end of the river(creek.LOL),got beached in the sand,but maybe that was august,maybe May is higher,I know CHUCKLES S.said he would never go back thru there in his boat again last may…..might stay on the other side of the bridge of the lake with two snakes……but would rather be on the smaller ponds,guess I could trailer if cedars is full…

Let the jerky begin…….um….that doesn`t sound right 🙄 Embarassed

I BLEED evey time I go SKIING..

Last I knew Cedars had one left. We would have let you stay with us but we are bringing in some new blood so the cabin is full. Should be a good party spot anyway. I would imagine that the water level will be better then but it is always a gamble. Nice thing about cedars is its a short trailer to 6 mile or around to Ellsworth.

We can always pull you through the sand bar if you get stuck!! Of course the many "adult beverages" on board are not helping your flotation at all!

Dave,
I got a cookshack electric smoker.Uses wood chunks.Kinda expensive
but they have a regular cookshack army that swears by them.Ive had
moderate success with mine,but im not a great cook either.You can stop over and check the little guy out if ya want.
