Folks,

I posted last week (from Pennsylvania) asking information on north Lower Peninsula lakes and the kind responses I got caused my friends to rethink. We are now considering Lake St. Clair as a 2007 destination. I have heard much of St. Clair, but would like the opinions of the fishers who know it best, i.e., Michiganers. Lots of questions:

Does Lake St. Clair have a good pike population in addition to its famous muskies?

How is the fishing on the eastern end of the lake near Mitchell's Bay, Ontario?

Would the muskies be active in early June?

Are weedbeds the main muskie hangouts?

Am I accurate in presuming that trolling crankbaits is the most productive approach?

Are there muskie and pike in the St. Clair River?

Thank you in advance for any responses.

In my opinion theres no better lake then St Clair.

Yes on the pike mid to low 30" common with a lunker 40" possible.

Mitchells area is awesome from what I hear. never fished it. have to much to fish on the american side. West shore, Anchor Bay etc.

season doesnt start till first sat in June. But everything is active it seems at that time of the year.

Weedbeds yes.

trolling is very productive. I myself cast and do well enough to keep doing it. Although keeping trolling in mind for an alternitive.

St Clair river not sure of. I heard of muskie being caught although later in the summer. The Detriot river area especially the Belle isle area is hot in june.
