I've always heard of some decent pike being taken from Reeds Lake in East GR.

depends on the size, reeds lake has a lot of sub 30 inch pike and its a heavily fished lake.

heh lol, ive fished miner lake for over 20 years and have never caught a pike out of there. I haven't even seen one come to think of it. I have talked to some people saying they have caught some, but i imagine if there are a lot in numbers there that they are in deep water. I always bass fish there, but have never come across a pike, i dont know how one has never hit any of my bass baits after that long of fishing the lake.

I'll second the pine lake. Never fished there (except from shore while working on the lake), but have many friends who fish/live on the lake. For some reason, the numbers have come down a little, but still good fishery. If you are going down as far as Pine Lake, tho, maybe keep going a little farther south and east and hit up Gull Lake. That lake has produced some monsters in years past.

Miner Lake does have some pike, but it isn't an easy fishery at all. People do better through the ice than the open water season. The fish move very deep during the summer. I've spent much time there during my youth (family lives on the lake), and have seen a couple caught… not many though.

yea ive seen a few pics from when i was younger of some pretty big pike at an old tackle store. Around a 15-20 lb pike through the ice, but figured the pike have to have something to do with the bass fishing becoming slow over the last 5+ years, that and the amount of pressure that lake gets

The lake isn't in SE Grand Rapids, but also not that far away. Try Wabasis. It's a pike factory. I've had 9-15 pike days there, though most were on the small side. However, I know of several 36-40" fish caught by friends. My biggest there was a 36.
