Padded deck mats

Looking for a padded mat to put on my front deck to hopefully relieve the back pain that comes after 6+ hrs of fishing. Does anyone know where I can find one of these? Does anyone have something they made that they'd care to share?

Go find some of the playmats for kids. That would provide a lot of cushion. Shoes are probably a better solution, the righ kind of shoe can make a huge difference.

You could also look at what some factory workers use. I know a guy who just takes apart transmissions all day long, standing in almost the same spot. His business provides padded mats for everyone who works in a station.

You can buy a padded mat from menards that you could easily cut to size, they have holes in them so they wouldn't trap moisture under them either.

Thanks for the help guys. Will, what kind of shoes would work best? Currently I'm wearing the running shoes I wear everyday.

I don't know for sure but something more like a walking shoe would probably be better. A running shoe is designed for running and not standing. A lean seat can help reduce fatigue too.

You know, I actually used a taller pedestal seat last year but I took it out for more room on the deck. Maybe if this floor mat thing doesn't work I'll put it back in.

I really like Keen shoes for comfort and good support. Gander usually has some, or get them at Foot Gear, Velocipede Peddler, Playmaker's, D!ck's, Track n Trail and Tradehome.

Big fan of Keens myself and Merrels. I added some memory foam inserts to my Merrel hiking shoes and could not believe the difference. Also some off season work on a balance board helps keep the trunk muscles ready for a day of casting!!
