I'm thinking about hitting one or both of these lakes this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions on areas to fish, lures, ect. Your input is much appreciated.

Oster is mostly shallow with a deeper ravine that runs out from the
launch to the middle of the lake.Without GPS its hard to troll. The pattern
is small and narrow and you will catch weeds. If you cast the lake Im
sure youll move a couple fish.Water is pretty clear, and was 60* last
weekend.Must have little claws,crane,and bucktails.Trolling, try grandma
Loke,or smaller Tuff shad.
Bring your hip waders because the launch is shallow.Traffic isnt to bad
but theres only parking for about 5 cars.Outhouse was not up as of last
week.Good luck!

I agree with the Kid's summary on Osterhout. Bankson is more of a classic muskie lake with plentiful weed growth right down to 14 or 15 feet, and lots of cabbage weeds, not common in most other SW Michigan lakes. Good water quality and access to deep water in most places. Pretty easy to pattern if the fish are shallow, deep, or in between. Decent boat access, a tad on the shallow side but not bad. Does get some angler pressure.

Kingfisher warned me of the launch there. Rear wheel drive is out!!! Tires will drop off the slab and dig in. He told me of a time he had to disconnect the trailer and first get the vehicle out, then go back and pull the trailer up. I won't try it with the new rig. I would go if I wanted to use the old 12 footer and just an electric. He did say though a roller trailer is better there than a bunk. Bruce

Yes Osterhout has a nasty launch. Cement ends before you can float a boat off of a bunk trailor. With 4 wheel drive you can keep your front wheels on the cement and get in far enough to launch. I buried my 1 ton Ford Van there last year trying to pull my 18 foot Starcraft out. I had gotton the rear wheels just off the back end of the concrete and she went down to the frame with one spin of the wheels. Lucky for us a guy came by with a truck and yanked us out. Its gets worse towards fall as water levels drop even more. Roller trailor helps me a lot everywhere I go. Kingfisher
