I'm planning to buy a new trolling motor. I'd love to hear your opinion on the Minn Kota CoPilot feature (remote control) and the AutoPilot feature. Is the motor responsive with the CoPilot, or slow to react? Does the AutoPilot feature get confused by current and wind? I really like the idea of the CoPilot and have some Cabelas coupons to use up that could make the CoPilot option free, but I don't want to waste the money if it's not useful. Right now, I have a Motorguide that is 10 years old, makes a lot of noise, and is a cable steer. The cable steer is a pain for Figure 8's in any kind of choppy water because I can't stand near the edge of the boat and have to keep my foot on the pedal to maintain power to the motor and control the direction. Thanks for any input!!!
I love my autopilot and cant see me fishing without one again. It is very responsive but you have to be moving at least 1.5 mph otherwise the boat will twist constantly and it will spend alot of time overcorrecting (in wind and river current). I know one guy who uses the co-pilot and it is awesome. I just have not seen the need for it myself.

The copilot is very nice it is very responsive (quick as a push of the button) and can be strapped anywhere to you or your fishing pole. I have had mine for two years with no problems. Love it and use it on the river mostly.
My brother just bought a new motorguide and he likes it so far. The remote foot petal is nice if you have had a foot control before. They are a little cheaper too. The remotes are about $30 less.
