Finding a politician to write special favors legislation is done all the time and sometimes they do this all on their own. This is from WI, but not uncommon in Michigan. Gov. Pawlenty Nixes Minn. Bill with Walleye Rule Change

Bad news for the UP muskie fishing for sure. I bet the Boundary Waters Muskie Club is making calls, almost all those guys are from MI.
Hmmmmm…..10 years ago when I lived way west in the Yoop I noticed (new to me, anyway) WI starting to bring clients across the border to waters in Iron and Dickinson Counties. When I moved back south 6 years ago they were getting to be regulars on lakes like Chicagon and Lac Vieux, and even smallish Stanley.
Yep, everybody should pitch in on this one. Good info, thanks for the alert.
(Thanks also for the reminder as to why I needed to renew my membership.)
I can tell you from living in the UP it is such a different mentality than downstate. All of the people that fish here are catch and kill fisherman. It makes me sick. We are loosing all of our good fishing lakes around Marquette because of the idiot mentality of most of the localls. The sad thing is most people who fish up here will totally back this guy [smilie=brickwall.gif]
Money does indeed speak loudly. In general, the UP is poor and they don't do well advocating for themselves in Lansing.
One way to maybe get some action is to contact all the Chambers of Commerce in the Yoop and explain why they should step up and deal with this. They just need to understand that lower size limits translates to fewer tourist dollars. And that MI's bigger size limit is currently an advantage that draws folks from MI and increasingly WI. The Chambers up there are loaded with County Commissioners, all of whom have relationships with Lansing legislators.
Something to try.
