I am new to this sight and new to muskie fishing. How do you figure out were to go cast on a lake like LSC. when everyone seems to troll. Any help or Ideas would be great
Ps. I am also fairly new to the web so if I am doing this wrong I apologize.
thanks again mfb05

Casting opportunities on LSC are endless… Literally… Depending on the time of year, you can find fish in weeds, near current, on flats or even suspended.

In the spring, look for the first good weed growth in shallower warming water. In the summer, you can find them in the thicker weeds in deeper water or on the deep side of the weed edge. In current areas, the fish can be in the weeds just out of the current, on current breaks, channel edges, and adjoining flats.

Popular areas to cast are up in Anchor Bay out from Mac n Ray's Marina, Selfridge, Salt River, Bandenburg, Fairhaver, Marsec Point, Grassy Island, The North & Middle Channels… And the list goes on. These are large areas, but you have to get on the water and cover water until you find fish and get on a pattern.

Good Luck!

There are a couple more LSC caster's that will hopefully join in here with more suggestions.

Where is good for casting this time of year? Is anchor bay still good??
Also, what size lures? bigger better? Should I be real aggressive this time of year? ..it is a 2 hour trip for me, so i want to know if it will be worth the pennies for gas in my Hemi…haha Anyone recommend anything in particular for this time of year?

Good job on the fish.

Don't worry about the lamprey. Lampreys are very common in LSC and many other places with muskies in Michigan. The Brook, Silver and Chestnut lamprey are the most common. They have been part of the ecosystem forever and are not harmful to muskies or other fish. The sea lamprey is the invasive species that will remain on a fish until the fish dies. These are not as common and are much larger than the native lamprey of Michigan. The adult sea lamprey is over 12" long, the native lamprey are all under 10" max.

Not sure if you have a boat and can travel to Canada(Windsor) but if you don't have a boat and even if you do you can fish all day here. Casting the river mouths this time of yr is very popular. Huge schools of baitfish make their runs and fishing from shore is a reality.
Use your boat during the daylight and then cast from many of the piers that adjoin LSC. One of the largest fish I caught last was from the dock 50.5 fatty on a Brn Bar Perch Little Claw.

Bring a long handle net some of these docks are 6-8 ft above the water.[/img]
