It looks like my sons are going to a birthday party so it will be just me for this event. Does anyone know how serious they are about opening the gates at 8 a.m.? I would like to be on the water at first light if possible and if anyone knows if we can get on the water earlier than 8 a.m. please advise.

The lake is usually open 24/7. If the main gate is closed, go back west on Price Road to Shepardsville Road (the first intersection) and then north to the night entrance on the West side, which should be open.

[quote="Scrappy"]The night fishing access isn't open until after Jubne 10th. The main gate will be open. We arrived at 5:45 last weekend and no problems.
It's been open several times when I've gone by since the opener this Spring. I believe it's open all year… despite what the pamphlet says.
I've checked it everytime we've been over and it hasn't been open at all. The safe bet is the long way around through the park.
I've tried it the last 3 Saturday mornings I was down there and it was locked up at 5:45 am (but the main entrance was open). Let me tell you it's a little tough to pull a U turn with a 21 foot boat with the culverts along that road. Safest bet, use the main entrance. The sign by the night ramp says it is open June 10th until Labor Day.
