I'm attaching lures with a split ring only, no snaps. I've dropped to a seven strand 90 or 110 test, I really don't remember. The problem I'm having is the loop of leader backing off the split ring at the bait. Does anyone make their own using those spindles (?) Not sure if that's the term. I have only used them on dowrigger cable. Or is there another answer to this? Thanks.

Thimbles is the correct term. They are shown on the Cabelas salt water page. They show them, but sleeves are the only product that can be ordered from that page. What's up?

I ALWAYS use a welded ring attached to the leader then I attach the split ring to the welded ring. The welded ring will NOT work into the split ring and you'll have a VERY strong connection.

I have a welded at the other end. Welded, then split ring, then swivel onto the loop. I know u use single strand wire. I have ordered more welded swivels to crack open to get to the rings. Thanks Will. Answers every time. You should be on a game show. You by chance wouldn't have that site for the musky book on Mackinac Island, the one of the monster terrorizing bathers, would you? Thanks again.

Thanks for the help on the rings. That's the first time I've seen just the rings. Ever see them in stores in W. Michigan?

The book was called 'Ferocity' I'm pretty sure, and I think Will found it on Amazon and posted the link in that old post.

I'm sure you could get a local bookstore to order a copy.

I just bought one at Barnes and Nobel in Lansing. They had two in stock.

Just about any of the gas stations up in the Cheboygan area will have autographed copies of that book, and St. Helena his other Michigan based book.

Thanks for the help. I have never seen it at our store in Mkg but I'll take another look tomorrow.
