During the winter months do you remove your fishfinder/gps and store them inside? what about your batteries?

Fishfinder, no, because it's not easily removable. Next year, when I mount one in the bow, yes, since the head unit WILL be removable.

Batteries I put down in my basement along with the charger, and plug them in once a month or so to keep charged. They should be kept charged during storage.

I leave everything attached and in the boat. The boat is stored in my garage and the onboard charger stays plugged in the whole time. About once a week I'll turn it over to pull oil into the cylinders. Glad you posted this because I need to put Seafoam in the gas tank.

I should have mentioned that my boat is stored in a remote, unheated location where it's not available for routine nursing like it would be in my garage. I change the bottom-end lube and "fog" the motor (mine's a two-stroke) thoroughly before storing.

No, never truly done. Just taking steps to prevent problems should it sit for a month or two. I keep my boat is at home and everything stays in so it is ready to go at a moments notice.

I don't have a garage, so everything comes inside. Fishfinder and all the other stuff comes in. Fog engine, change lower unit oil (do this in the middle of the season to, take prop off and check for line wraped around there). Add stabil to gas tank, charge batteries, set in the basement on pieces of 2×4's. Take the boat and have it shrink-wrapped, make sure moth balls are put in there, mice will tear it up. Steve

The last issue of Muskie magazine (from Muskies Inc.) had an article about the gas we use today. With the ethonal being as high as 10%, they said putting things like Stabil isn't a gaurantee anymore. They suggested filling up the gas tank, and leaving the breather holes open for ventilation. They said that even having 1/4 tank, then filling up next season won't mix it enough for some reason. This is all new to me. Any thought? I haven't even fogged mine yet…. ooops. It's only been about 3 1/2 weeks since I've been out.

What's this Seafoam you are talking about, Will?

AFAIK, most gas sold in this part of MI is 100% gasoline. If anyone knows differently for sure, Id like to know. I believe if it has any substantial ethanol content, it must be stated at the pump on signage.

I know that Costco has 10% in it. It is clearly stated on the pump. Actually it says it contains UP TO 10%.

I haven't ever seen a pump in the Lansing area with any ethanol content labeling on it. But I don't get around much, either!

Ah! As I said, I don't get around much. (Nor do I remember much, apparently!) Where do you see it around here, Duke?

I got reel lazy this year. Honda is still attached to da boat. It's sitting outside. Tires still on the trailer. Didnt jack it up and take the tires off. Sonar/gps, both still on the boat. Bow mount used to come off. Not this year. Tansducers still on the boat. Gas tank and batteried too. Batteries are plugged in. I read that they will keep their charge in cold weather, not discharge like they would in the basement. Gas tank is almost topped off. Use Stabil in it. The local Wesco station has 10 % ethanol but I had to ask about ti as it is not on the pump. About 2 years they have been selling it, as long as one employee had worked there anyway. Must be something about the big birthday in October and my back that had me thinking of all the things I had done to the boat the past couple of winters. Those days are done… [smilie=applause.gif]
