What a great event put on by Muskies, Inc. and organized by the Hoosier Muskie Hunters Chapter. The people in attendance were the best of the best and some of the new stars of muskie management and research. Some very interesting material was presented about genetics, spawning, strains, etc. All of this material will eventually be published in a book that will be for sale to anyone interested.
If I had to rate one moment as the best?
When I introduced Kregg Smith (MI-DNR esocid committee member) and Kevin Kapuscinski (WI-DNR/Green Bay). We discussed how Michigan and Wisconsin can work together regarding the Great Lakes Muskie native species restoration. New information discussed this weekend gives us hope that we're not too far away from getting this started. We help them, they help us and Lake Michigan wins.
Hamilton – Pox can be cleaned/treated from the eggs!
😀
You are welcome. We're not out of the woods yet, Kregg wants to do this right so there needs to be some genetic testing done. The LSC fish might not be the best bet for Lake Michigan but hopefully they'll match up with the other Huron and L. Michigan fish and we'll be on our way.
Time to line up a brood stock lake…
Feels more like Christmas than Halloween – eh?
