I am headed to the Detroit River area for a musky fishing weekend in August. I hav never fished this part of the country, and I was wondering if anyone can share the summer patterns (casting or trolling?) with me. I really appreciate any help in advance! Thanks!

I am going up there for a weekend to feel my way around for the upcoming September PMTT as well as personal vacation and I was hoping to find out if it is a predominant casting bite or trolling bite. Never, ever fished that part of the country. Any info. would be appreciated. Thank you.

Tom,

As you know, so much goes into location particularly in the late summer. A week of hot or cold will move those fish from 4' to 24', or vice versa. Regardless of weather the September bite is tough and it will be an interesting event for sure. The Wyandotte, Boblo, Grosse Isle area is probably where the best fishing will be and having a decent casting and trolling pattern will be important. Forage is far less important in the late summer compared to a later in the fall. If you've spent any amount of time on rivers you know that current and being able to read water is the single most important factor.

That should be enough to get you going… I'll see you there in September.

Hi Tom, It was great sharing the Pastikas booth with you guys. If Michelle and I get moved and settled we can take you guys out for a day and show you what we know about the area we call the sewer section. We have taken some nice ones in there in september. But like Will says its up to currents and water temps. The river can be great and also can be real tough. Mike and Michelle
