I say pike also, even though the coloring is a little different.

Don't chain pickerel have a dark line under their eye?

The size also makes it a pike. 37" would have put it over 10# making it a world record chain pickerel.

Always funny to see how little the general public on M-S.com knows… that is a really cool northern. Actually kinda resembles the Amur pike x northern pike hybrid that Pennsylvania toyed with back in the 70's- that fish was awesome- like a horizontal tiger. But I'm guessing this Tawas fellow has no Eurasian Amur pike in his family tree! Then again we did have a Wolverine for a couple years. Amur pike beautiful in their own right though- like the spottiest, awesomest Great Lakes musky you ever saw.

Definitely a beautiful pike, have caught a few with the more twisted, elongated worm shaped markings instead of bean shaped, got a dandy in Canada with Chad that I had a nice pic of before the last PC crash.

lol im with Duke, you never really realize how uninformed people are who actually fish, when it comes to identifying other species.

That is actually sad and makes you think how many idiots may mistake a musky for a pike and keep it without ever knowing.

Definately a unique and very pretty pike.

Joe, if you need pics from our trips let me know, I can burn a CD/DVD. This was a beauty…

Here was another great looking pike from the same lake with distinctly different coloration.

A lot of the pikes in Canada have some great colors. Noticed last year on Eagle a lot of the pikes we caught, some of the larger ones had some beautiful colors like the first one chad posted but brighter whites.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Canadians are weird. Even their fish. We all know that… 🙄

(And before anyone gets upset, please note that I'm 50% French-Canadian, eh? 2nd generation! D'accord? )
