Ontario has a 54" limit. Could a record fish fall short of that, meaning a released fish? What kind of girth is needed for that to happen? There was a 60 lber caught in Georgian Bay in the Honey Harbour area by Martin sumthin or other. Anyone recall the measurements of that one? Waiting for your replies…

Martin Williamson's fish was huge! The length was originally reported as 53.5 but was actually 56 since the original measurement was to the fork and not the tip of the tail. Girth was 31.5". By formula (LxG/25-10=weight) puts that fish at 60.5 pounds and actual weight was 61 pounds.

To answer your question about the girth of a sub-54 to make WR proportions; it would have to be 53.75×38 to make 71 pounds. Basically, there's no reason to kill a 54. She's got to be 60×34… can you even imagine what that would look like?

The 61lb fish caught by Williamson.
