The final day of the Michigan season and a full moon to boot. I am not seeing any reports but I sure hope somebody fished, I have heard from a reliable source that the Webster fish were on but what about Michigan???

I used to be the young bull, in the last 4-5 years I've become the old bull.

Does that mean you are going to stay at the top of the hill and catch all the muskies???

It means, I'm not as excited about simply getting my lure wet anymore.

You are missing the point. It's not that my lures don't work, but when they're used they're used right. Simply getting it wet, isn't going to put more and bigger fish in the net.

Nevermind…

Cheer up guys, We can still kill a day at the GR Sportshow. I'll be there tomorrow. Remember the fun we had with the booth 3-years ago? Time flies.

I think I got the point, I used to chase steelhead all over the state all winter long, freezing my backside off for the opportunity at a fish or maybe even just a hook up. As time progressed I got tired of fishing in the cold and coming home skunked so I evolved into the steelhead fisherman that fished when the run was hot and the fish were easily accessible. Maybe I became the (old bull) either way I had to do an awful lot of trial and error things on those cold winter days to learn what to do and not to do while fishing. Now I am going through the same progressions as a musky angler, so I will say again I am the young bull running down the hill and if that ever gets boring I am going to search for that little blue pill!!!

Backstreet – No not really… Your steelhead progression was all about catching. You weren't catching so you gave up and fished only when it was easy.

I'm not saying the old bull is right or that the young bull is wrong. Just different perspectives on life. Run for one, or walk and enjoy the total experience with them all.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after. ~Henry David Thoreau

so fishing is not about catching??? I casted for just under 4 hours in my pond yesterday learning how to use the different gliders I acquired this winter. It was an excellent experience and I enjoyed every minute of it but not catching a fish left something to be desired.

Catching is just a small part of the fishing experience to me.
