Water temp 71 to 73
Water clarity brownish 7ft
7a.m. To 2 pm
Weather calm and partly cloudy

Lots of floating weeds which made casting difficult at times. Fished the weed edges. Best luck seemed to be when we fished inside out. Positioning the boat inside the weeds and casting out to the river channel and deep weed edge. Caught several pike. One follow from an upper forties class musky. She made about four laps on the figure eight, with her nose a foot behind the bait the whole time. Thought for sure she would eat but never did.

And I didn't get her picture the next day, either…

But thanks for the info, we were able to move a few muskies Sunday morning. 2 ate right at the weed line, but no hooks, and another couple smaller fish followed and peeled off right at boatside.

Very cool! I enjoyed the outing. I'm definitely planning on fishing longer next time. Had some family responsibilities to attend to.

Thanks very much for these reports! I've not been back to the site in a while, summer full of pike and smallmouth and didn't get after muskies. Fall looms and I need to step up to the challenge.

I visit the Cheboygan area fairly often and will have to give these rivers a try. I have fished Cooke Dam Pond further south and haven't moved a muskie yet, but lots of good pike and bass action.
