Well got my a$$ handed to at the tour. But I was launching out of the ford river launch which is not the best launch it was the one off us-2 one boat at a time very rocky and trim your motor up high to launch One man and his kid were comimg up to the the launch in a little white trash boat they had two pike but these pike were dark spots on a white body and one was 41 inches he said and the other was about 35 inches I told him they were muskys he told me I didn't know what I was talking about I was a walleye pro, ya?I Didn't know nothing but walleye I told him to read my windshild on my boat if he new how to read and see the muskies inc sticker on there but the problem is he told me he gets fish like this about once a week fishing three times a week . there were no signs at the launch on how to tell a pike from a musky. The cedar river nice has a deep launch it's a deeper river not like the ford got in to a lot of pike right by the mouth were it goe's in to lake michigan in 14 to 20 fow.Lost all my reef runners to pike big fat one's avg about 30-36 inches but they had bellys on them gold clown was the ticket walleye were out at the hump that was in like 35 fow and went up to 25 fow and half the feid was on that spot the first day of the tour watch it on fsn oct 22 11:00 am -06 and you see what I mean I got some nice walleyes there till the day of the tour on bottom bouncer with silver blades didn't help nice weather all week till the day of the tour then it was bad 2 hour ride to the spot I was fishing witch was 50 min the day before 2 hour ride back not alot of fishing time .
Thanks Larry it was hard fishing out there with 5-6waves 8 footers now and then I speared a couple 8ft my co angler didn't have clue he broke one of my rods and my vhf radio and the fish he lost at the boat, And I ran in to a rock pile 5 mile off shore thats not on the map chip off round island alot of broken boats lower units lost windsheilds and broken gps and sonar units we took a beating out there for a few days .I don't know if I'll ever do it agian
I had breakfast this morning with a cohort that just came back from the Rapid River area. He was fishing walleye, but is a supporter of our local West Michigan muskie program efforts. He agrees that the Bay de Noc area needs a fast course on fish ID. He is also looking forward to the developing GLS UP muskie fishery and will be owning property at both places.
My suggestions are:
Expand the MMA ID siganage program to Bay de Noc.
The local CO officers need to be alerted to the developing GLS fishery. This will incourage them to start enforcing the muskie identification and size restrictions with greater more vigor.
Is there a local MUCC club in Menominee County that we can work with to sponsor and write a resolution for the support of the developing GLS fishery in Bay de Noc? I would volunteer to help the club write the resolution if needed.

I saw them on his stringer dragging them next to his boat, I told the trash they were muskys great lakes muskys I fish walleye I don't what muskys look like so he told me.that was at the ford river launch by the camp gournds right by the mouth little bay de noc or lake michigan what ever you call it up there.
Thanks for the reply, Gabe. This is a bitter sweet sign of good things happening. I see enough CO's here and there and I will mention that the Ford needs attention (it needs attention often). Spotties up here on top of the bay are very, very few and far between and I've been putting a good deal of time into looking. I have not seen another boat fishing muskies……….yet. As for the dudes in the white boat with the illegal muskies……..here I come.
I have to admite maybe they did not know,But In sume ways I felt sorry for them. If you saw want they look like I think they share teeth but ignorance in no axcuse.I saw minnows by the launch that look like baby musky to. I'm sorry I was getting ready for the biggest tour of my life so I didn't pay that much attention like I normal do but I hope you look out for those fish little. Thanks Steve
No, thank you Gabe! Without your name being mentioned……………… CO's have been alerted and there are already some signs posted. My cousin Jim, 6 year old Ray, and I trolled headhakers and Trinity baits between the Ford River Can and the launch but got we got skunked. A cold front didn't help I'm sure. The six footers around portage point heading back to Escanaba didn't scare Ray a bit. First time in a boat. He had a blast.
