Fished: 6-8am
Temp: 75
Clarity: 5'
Fished with Mark Platt. Caught one 38 incher in 15 fow on bucktail. Had about a foot of weeds on one treble and had the fish come in hot and hit on the second turn of the figure eight. I guess when they want to eat they don't mind a little salad! Also saw one other fish about the same size in same fow. I go to our website every day to gain as much information as possible and have learned a great deal since joining MMA so thank you to everyone. I truly believe that if you gain information you should also give information so I apologize that this is my first post in the fishing reports section. I will make a better effort to post results for each future trip. Pic to follow.
Good Evening
I agree with Rob about the MMA. It has been an great experience. I appreciate the education and conservation aspects of the club. Prior to joining the MMA, I considered myself a very solid fisherman, who spent his time on the water. I spent plenty of time reading books and magazines about fishing specific to the species I used to fish a lot. I have been humbled. This is an entirely different animal altogether from equipment, to fish behavior, to approach. I also want to do my part to share so I have decided to make a multiple post post.
Thornapple. The value of the lake has increased over $100 during my first and last visit. I deposited three brand new lures into the bottom of the lake. You have to have a certain skill set to do this, so rookies should not try this. I lost a walleye colored Bulldawg, a black double cowgirl and a specially made white Cuda that I had won at the MMA banquet. It was on this trip that I learned I needed glasses. As I tied my leader on and was sliding the split ring onto the leader, I inadvertantley disconnected the split ring from my lure. As all great fisherman do I threw my freshly tied line over the boat so I could put away my other equipment. Of course, it was then I realized what I had really done.
Murray…It is here that I had some special catches
Longest bench….4 foot 40 lbs, a boat hoist and my favorite from last night…. shore. I have witnessed the demolition of a flower box by a Weegle at midnight. It was a good thing I had a big flashlight to shine on the owner of the Weegle, Rob Hulverson.
I have also spent a lot of money on this endeavor. However, my proudest purchase was my first…two pair of MMA thongs. On opening day my wife was left with instructions, "you must wear these and the daredevil earrings I bought you". The other pair I gave to Rob's wife. Although, I think Rob wore them on opening day.
I know this all sounds like BS, but every bit of it is true….OK, OK Rob didn't wear the thong. [smilie=bs.gif]
I thought that was you last night – sorry for being anti-social.

Been there… about 20 years ago I lost a favorite EagleTail when I thought I had attached it to the line and had to watch it slowly sink into the depths.
Hi Chris,
Most of the time when we fish Murray or Thornapple we have been in Rob's boat a 14 foot Jon Boat, affectionately named the Millennium Falcon or (The MF'er) as we like to call it.
We do go in mine occasionally. It is a 16 and 1/2 foot Smokercraft with the name Hawgslayer on it.
I doubt it was us you saw on Thornapple. We have been there in a couple of months.
