Fished 7am-10am
Air temp 18 degrees
Water 38 degrees
Landed my first Muskie – man these things are monsters! 46+ the fin tips, couldnt control her enough to get a good measurement but had a ball fighting her. Very healthy fish and she left the boat angry after release. All I can say is WOW.
WOW
Off the saddle structure 5-16 foot of water twitching a large storm blade curly tail.
5 casts later had a strike that ripped the tail off my only Storm :(.
What a Thanksgiving day to remember!
Ihave a partial pic of her, was lucky not to snap the line with my net job…. Seems my net wasnt quite big enough, got her in the boat lined the fish up for a quick measurement and snapped a quick shot as she lifted her tail, so picture time was over… Didnt want to keep her out longer than i had to, how do you guys take pics if you are fishing alone? It seems hazardous! 🙂
The shot you see in my Avatar was done by myself. I mount my camera in a spot before I even start fishing, then see where I need to stand. I set the self-timer, grab the fish, and get into the spot I need to be. I think Will has a foot pedal to snap the shot, which I think is an awesome idea. Maybe I'll go looking for one of those during these black friday sales.
Do you have a permanent mount? Sounds like a great idea, especially if your by yourself. I made a few mistakes, first I assumed I wouldnt catch a fish on my second cast with a lure i never used before, second my net was in the collapsed, stowed position, third I was strong enough to lift it :P, fourth that the fish was going to lay in the net while i got my camera phone out of my pocket – the pic snapped as it lifted, spit the lure into the net and I managed to get the fish in the water without getting too wet. And i didnt lose the net. Chalk it up to lots of luck and lack of experience and it was a humbling experience in a way.

It looked very similar in girth and color to Jason's fish on 10/14.
My profile pic is one I took by myself also. I have a tripod that I set up in the back of the boat in the same position everytime so I know where I need to be for the picture. After catching and unhooking a fish I simply put the camera on the tripod, set the timer, grab the fish and get into position.
