Fished the home lake tonight with Michelle. Water temps have dropped into the upper 60's and the Pike have moved up out of the deep water. Almost as much fun as Musky fishing. Michelle got a fat 33 incher on a Crane bait tonight. I guess Ill have to start bringing the Camera. Our local Pike are Blasting smaller Musky baits and Red and White Rapalas. I lost one that might have gone 36/37 inches a couple days ago. Even though they are not Muskies its nice to have some good fishing in our new home lake. Mike and Michelle
Always nice to have the test lure laboratory in the back yard. Especially for those much needed 30-minute breaks from the house chores.
My case is a bit different in that I go behind the house for salmon and steelhead. When the wife says she put the baked potato in the oven for supper, that is just right for a hit/run check.
Almost Muskies meaning size only. The Pike are aggressive and a blast to catch on light rods. We shocked another couple by releasing two Pike right in front of them. We might have a real chance at a mid to upper 30's fish here. So far the numbers of smaller ones is encouraging. Max depth is 26 feet and there is lots of water in the 15 to 18 foot range. The lake has some cabbage and lots of deep coontail. It is a hard lake to troll deep as weeds are present in 15 feet of water in spots. I have already released one bass over 8 pounds that was 22.5 inches long(Largemouth). The lake also has some real big Dogfish that go nuts on Jackpots. They clear the water completly jumping right over the lure most of the time. We are enjoying our lake and will be using good sense in harvesting any fish from it. 260 acres listed on the plot map for cedar creek township. Most of the fish in here do not like big baits though. 6 inches and under seem to be the best choices. Mike and Michelle
