Did you get pics? This time of year spawning scars are pretty common.

I don't think you are going to get any grief from this group for taking a picture, nor should you. It is not unreasonable to snap a quick pic of any fish, big or small, no one should take any crap for it, and I hope you haven't got that impression from any folks here at MMA.

To get technical for a minute, the hot water period of the summer is really the time when you might want to make that decision whether you need a picture or not. But if the fish hasn't been stressed much through fighting and unhooking and has remained in the water, even in summer snapping a quick picture will not be a problem.
