Tried to fish at Murray today but found 1/2" plate Ice at the launch and the entire lake glazed over. Cold nights Friday and saturday finished it off. Instead headed to the Thornapple river near Middleville and Irving. All open water so we launched and fished for about 5 hours. water temps at 35.2 and not bad air temps at 39. Michelle moved one fish on a Bull dawg in 9 feet of water below a log jam. Lost one on a sucker in about 7 foot in a small pool . This fish could have been a Pike. Were able to troll one stretch about 300 yds long with depths averaging 10 feet. Marked nothing and hit nothing trolling. I have to love this little Jon Boat as we had to creep through 1.6 feet of water to get to the deeper stretchs. Lots of wood and stumps. I marked out the river channel and will return in February or early March if weather permits. It is looking like Illinois is next for us. Kingfisher
