Michelle and I arrived at 11:30 am. Boat launch was iced in but ice was thin. We opened it up and went out. There were several large ice fields all thin stuff so we sliced it up and the wind took it away.Trolled entire eastern basin no rips. Casted east shore and Shelly raised one about 32" rolled completely over the Tan Perch Little Claw missing it . Had a small one about 24" follow our 12" sucker for a few yards(he had high hopes). Went back to trolling and again no rips. Casted back to the launch and had a very nice fish chase the sucker around for a few seconds before dissapearing . Not a bad little outing for January in Michigan. Water temps were at 37.8 and weeds were still present all along the breaks in about 3 to 10 feet. It was good to get out. We got to test 11 new Deep threats and they were great runners. Too bad we marked nothing deep. Lots of forage and large hooks in 11 to 17 feet. We should have stuck one with the mid depth runners like the Tuff Shads while trolling the edges. They were there but they have the winter blues I think. Kingfisher

Thanks for the scouting and inspiration, Kingfisher, and hats off to you and anyone else out there! This weekend I'm hitting a river no matter what, can't stand the waiting around any longer…
