I was up at our Ludington MCWA walleye pond and some of the board members are from Hamlin Lake or fish it often. Aside from all other fishing reports which were good (walleye & bluegill), I was most interested in the side comments about all the hammer handle pike. Many Hamlin fishers are no longer fishing for the small pike as being too small, bony, etc. Along with the small pike one person also caught one of our small muskie. He said that was good news as they are easily identified from the pike with different markings and the muskie was fat in good health. No problem telling the difference between pike and muskie. The MCWA guys are passing the word to help protect the young muskie. I thanked them for their support.
