Seriously, DU an inch of ice?? That wouldn't even slow me down. First I get out the chainsaw and I cut the thick stuff by shore…Then you back the trailer out and break the ice down THHHEEENN you launch the boat, turn it around and proceed to make ice cubes. After you have opened up the lake you do about four circles wide open in the middle to push the ice out from the center and START FISHIN'… I may actually have a problem now that I think about it ❓ ❓

December 2004 Michelle and I arrived at Oster hout to find 2 thirds of the lake with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of plate glass black ice. The 17 foot hole at the south east end was open as was the area in front of the launch. I put her in and started by easing into the ice at an idle crunching it as we went . I followed the break line in about 10 feet of water cutting the Ice field in half. When we reached the other side I turned around in the open water and went back through just short of plane. As most of you know this will make the biggest waves that your boat is capable of making. The waves shattered the ice out hundreds of feet from our path and as it turned into ice cubes I added more gas until we were throwing ice like water spray. It was awsome to see. The breeze did the rest and in just over an hour the entire lake was ice free except for the edge where all the ice drifted. We fished the open water area first and connected with the first Musky there and caught a second one along the break where we had first broke ice. This is the only time I have ever tried this and at first it a little spooky. Thicker ice could really tear up a painted bottom so be advised. Kingfisher
