Well I ended My season today on a cold and windy Austin Lake. Joe Bednar Joined me for this last Hurrah for the 2006 season. We worked all the deeper spots and remaining weeds. The sun never showed up like the weather man promised and that kind of killed the action. I did manage one small Musky trolling with Planer Boards. With the weeds down we were able to short line 4 rods off the boards and cover the entire lake. A very fat but short 30.5 incher hit my old blue frog Loke to end up as my last fish of 2006. That fish looked kind of like a sockeye salmon. 13 feet back halfway out on the board line. we were in 8 feet of water when it hit. Water temps frigid at 37.4 to 38.3 for the day. 2006 in in the books. Kingfisher
Thanks for taking me, Mike. It's always fun and I always learn plenty, this time especially the trolling info, which I rarely try on Austin and it's the only thing that worked on this tough day. But a bonus day of open water muskies this late in the year, I'll take it so matter how tough the fishing.
